The Owl
Ravenscroft's songbooks from 1609-1611. I don't know of any later publications of these except that the first 8 bars from
Tomorrow the Fox appear in the 2nd edition of Playford as the tune for the dance Trenchmore.

Of all the great birds that ever I see,
The owl is the fairest in her degree.
For all the day long she sits in a tree,
And when the night comes away flies she.
Toowit, toowoo, toowit, toowoo.
That song is well sung I'll make you a vow,
And here is a knave that drinketh now.
Nose, nose, jolly red nose,
And what gave you that jolly red nose?
Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove,
That's what gave me this jolly red nose!
