As an Officer, this man would have supplied his own clothing and equipment for war, dressing as befits his status, rank and purse.

He wears a plain, red taffeta sash, showing his status as an Officer of the Royalist Army. He is dressed in a thick Buff coat strong enough to withstand a sword blow and long range musket shot. Under this he would wear a linen shirt, and a separate falling band, or collar, of fine white linen.

His hat is of black felt, with a red silk band as decoration and a sign of allegiance to his majesty. He carries a leather snap-sack or satchel. This would contain perhaps a little food, papers and documents, and other personal items and travelling essentials.

Like the Commanding Officer he has money to purchase bucket top boots, with boot hose to protect his stockings.

This Lieutenant is armed with a sword, and also carries a partisan, used both to direct troops and parry
